OpenAI has released an artificial intelligence (AI) writing application, called chatGBT, that is creating a lot of buzz in marketing circles.
With a few instructions, the application will generate a written piece in seconds.
Right now, it can generate an email that is easy to read and can include marketing elements, including an emotional appeal and a call to action. This will help marketers quickly and efficiently generate short (a page or two) marketing messages.
The application is also capable of generating other writing projects, like news stories and short fiction stories. Students might try using it to write reports for their classes.
The application can also be used to generate multiple subject lines or headlines to explore different marketing angles for a written piece, and as a shortcut for online research that won’t have the clutter of a Google search.
ChatGBT is in the beta test stage, and is being made available to the public to use for free. Registration is required and it takes some patience to get signed up. The sign-up link is chat.openai.com.
I watched a YouTube interview of Sam Woods by Kim Krause Schwalm about the implications of chatGBT for copywriters (promotional writers of advertising, online content, emails, etc.) Sam Woods has been following and testing the evolution of AI writing applications .
According to Sam Woods, chatGBT is a game changer for the quality of writing produced. It’s being continuously improved, so the capabilities of the application will continue to grow.
Eventually, the role of copywriters (promotional writers) will probably change. Applications like chatGBT should help them to be more efficient. Their focus will be on learning how to state the instructions to AI applications to generate the desired result and to function as a copy chief to evaluate and edit the output. ChatGBT will facilitate testing different headlines and marketing angles for written promotional materials.
Professional writers will want to experiment with chatGBT and be alert for developments for AI writing applications.
