When I was away from home at a Sunday matinee movie, Facebook sent a notice that I had three hours to contact them or my account would be suspended. I don’t constantly watch Facebook. When I finally tried to sign in, I had a suspension notice.
Facebook said that an Instagram subaccount (which I didn’t create. Evidently my account was hacked.) included some noncompliant content. Since I didn’t create the subaccount and couldn’t access it, I simply deleted it.
Previously, I accessed my Instagram account using my Facebook account. Since that wasn’t working, I created a password for the Instagram account. I probably needed one anyway, since my Instagram account apparently was hacked.
The Facebook notice said I needed to appeal the decision using my Instagram account. So far, I haven’t found a way to do that. I did post some messages using the “report a problem” feature, with no response.
I looked for ways to communicate with Facebook. They have no customer service telephone number or email address. With online search, I did find a email addresses for appeals, appeals@fb.com and disabled@fb.com. I received no response to emails sent to those addresses. (Apparently nobody is looking at them.)
In desperation, I reached out to a Facebook consultant to eliminate the suspension. After a time-consuming, considerable investment of more than $1,700 paid to various shady accounts, my Facebook account still isn’t restored, and now I’m in dispute with the consultant.
I blame Facebook/Meta. Once you’re off their system, you don’t exist. Again, no one responded to my messages on Instagram.
If a Facebook merchant behaved as they do, Facebook would probably ban them. It’s a little like being cut off from family communications by the telephone companies or having your email shut down.
I’ve heard tales of woe from many others who were suspended by Facebook. Do you have one?
