As you become successful, opportunities pop up all around you.
People become aware you are a person that gets things done.
You also become identified as a person with resources to potentially be a good customer or investor.
Prioritizing becomes more and more important, because all of these activities have the potential to become distractions.
You can’t do and shouldn’t try to do EVERYTHING!
When you decide to pursue an opportunity, like being a board member of a charity, it should be because YOU want to, not because someone else wants you to. Is this really a cause you sincerely believe in and where you can make a substantial contribution?
When you are offered an investment opportunity, does it fit your risk profile? What is the potential return for the investment of time and money? How would accepting the opportunity impact your time and resources available for your current business and other alternatives?
The ability to say “No!” becomes your safety valve. You can avoid having your available time and resources “sucked up” and keep them available for other priorities.
