Helping small business owners develop extraordinary businesses that really work for their customers, their employees, themselves and their families

Web search – Have I found it?

When users click on a web search result, the first thing they will look for is whether the page that comes up looks like a page that has what they are looking for.

You almost never see the error of not showing this information for major sites with professional web site design.

For newer businesses or businesses establishing a new web presence, it’s a “slap on the head” web design checklist item to be sure is included.

Does the page only have the name of the business at the top, without information about what it offers? Does the user have to guess?

Was the user looking for women’s shoes and landed on a page for women’s dresses?

Is there a specialized product or service that your business offers that should be featured on its own web page?

Having a reassuring “I’ve found it” user experience will make a difference for whether a user stays on your website or moves on. When users don’t see information relating to what they are looking for, they’ll move down the list and try again.

Be sure this “back to the basics” item is done for your business’s website.
